Do you need a Life Coach?  A Psychotherapist?  Or both? Allison Parr-Plasha has the ability to offer a unique blend of intervention techniques designed to address an individual's whole life. 

What is Life Coaching?

Coaching is an ongoing relationship, which focuses on clients taking action toward the realization of their visions, goals, or desires. Coaching uses a process of inquiry and personal discovery to build the client's level of awareness and responsibility and provides the client with structure, support and feedback. The coaching process helps clients both define and achieve professional and personal goals faster and with more ease than would be possible otherwise. What is the difference between coaching a psychotherapy?  Both are excellent modalities in helping one feel more present and fulfilled in their everyday life.  A therapist tends to focus on past issues that are contributing factors to present day distress.  The therapist also offers specific intervention techniques and educational tools to help the individual with their presenting issues.  A coach helps their clients define the changes they want to make and the goals they want to achieve. They take the client from wishing, fantasizing and hoping to actually taking practical steps in a realistic productive way.  

How Does Coaching Work?

Allison Parr-Plasha initially meets with her clients for a two-hour strategy session either in person or over the phone. During this session the clients will be introduced to tools designed to heighten awareness around their core values, assess current levels of satisfaction in every area of their life and establish what they want to focus on throughout the coaching relationship. Allison typically meets with her clients once a week for forty five minute sessions. For local clients, she is available to meet in person. Otherwise, the sessions take place over the phone. The client is strongly encouraged to make a three month commitment to the coaching process as change takes time.

How Does Therapy Work?

Allison Parr-Plasha meets with her therapy clients once a week for 50 minute sessions.  Much like a first visit to a doctor, the first session is spent collecting history and discussing the presenting problem(s).  There is no time commitment.  At this time, Allison does not accept insurance.

How Does Coaching and Therapy Work Together?

Allison Parr-Plasha approaches this unique blend on a case by case basis.  She and the client pre-design the initial sessions and decide what would be the most appropriate and effective modality.     

 Sample sessions are available over the phone for anyone who is interested in experiencing "coaching in action" or learning more about counseling.  During this session Allison will answer any questions you might have and help you discover the right course of action for you.  There is no charge for this half hour session.
