Allison Parr-Plasha
Allison Parr-Plasha's life experience has paved the way to her profession as Life Coach and Psychotherapist. After graduating from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Psychology in 1990, this adventurer toured Europe solo for a year and then worked for Greenpeace for two years. A graduate from Case Western Reserve University in 1996 with a Master’s Degree in Social Work led to her initial work as a psychotherapist.
Always passionate about learning, Ms. Parr-Plasha completed an 18 month post graduate training program from the Gestalt Institute in Cleveland in 1998 and has worked with a series of mentors from a Gestalt perspective.
In 1998 Allison began her work as a college psychotherapist at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College for seven years. After the arrival of her son she took a six year break at the college and started her training and certification as a Life Coach through The Coaches Training Institute. It was during this time that she opened up a private practice and delved in to the coaching model. In 2010 she returned to Behrend part-time and maintains an active private practice. Her ongoing experiences of coaching and psychotherapy have allowed her to step confidently in to the blend of Life Coaching and Psychotherapy that she now offers.
Allison has been a practitioner of yoga since 1993 and shares a special interest, along with her husband, in Raja Yoga (the psychology of yoga). They have co-presented on Raja Yoga and Life Coaching/Psychotherapy at Kripalu and in Yogaville. She recently started a Meditation Teachers Training Program and plans on being certified in the Spring of 2012. Marriage to Michael Plasha since 1996 allowed Allison to take on the role of being a partner and step-parenting five powerful individuals. Currently she and her husband live in Erie, PA with their two young children Saul and Tizita whom they adopted from Guatemala and Ethiopia. Parr-Plasha's love of life, ongoing curiosity, fascination with people, listening skills, openness and experience have made her a natural as a Life Coach and Psychotherapist.
